REVERENCE

by John Yeo

The Wild Man was renowned for his fighting ability. A bare-knuckle bruiser, then a fairground fighter who got famous by taking on all comers. Much blood had flowed from the effects of his iron fists, his own blood and the blood of his challengers. Broken bones and mashed up faces were a usual sight after one of his battles. He made a name for himself big time in the boxing world until he came up against, “The Reverence” a thin fast man who made the weight by virtue of his extraordinary height. Then the wild man became reverent.

APRIL FOOL

by John Yeo

Our landlord passed away very suddenly yesterday. He was a very witty man, always playing practical jokes. He will be well remembered by everyone, always good for a laugh to cheer everyone up. The other day we all got a letter to say our rent would be doubled. My wife and I were shocked until we realised it was April fools day, and he was only up to his old witty tricks. The police came to arrest our neighbour George today, he also received a letter. Some people have no sense of humour. Landlord’s funeral is tomorrow
What’s for tea?

Anglo Saxon Loving Cup

by John Yeo

Olga and Igor were to be married in the traditional tribal way. The two families had agreed terms and the villagers were gathered for the symbolic ceremony of exchanging swords. Igor the groom said,  “I give you this sword to save for our sons, to have and to use.”  Olga gave Igor a sword, with the words, “I give you this sword to keep us safe.”
They both then shared a loving cup to toast the Gods Frigja and Freya, the Goddesses who ensure a good marriage. The ceremonial loving cup was kept safely, shining for the future wedding ceremonies.

ROBBED

by John Yeo

The Doctor was brilliant, he had written many books full of original ideas. Feted the world over, he was basking in the glory of his academic success, Mary, his glamorous wife took care of him and they both enjoyed a super-rich lifestyle.

Mary was very frightened inside, she harboured a sad secret. The Doctor had been leaving an increasing workload unfinished. Secretly Mary had completed many books and papers and engineered the Doctor’s public image. The terrible reality was clear, a shocking disease had struck the Doctor and robbed him of his sparkling mind.

Slowly but surely destroying his brain.
