THE LAST WISH

by John Yeo

“Well Roger your three wishes have almost completely expired. Two of them have already been used . You are extremely wealthy and ageless, you will live as long as the world turns around the sun. I understand you have a very special request for your third and final desire. What would you like?”
“Yes Master, I have given much thought to my final request, and I ask for a companion to share eternity with, I get very lonely on my own and I would love a special friend to spend my life with.”
“That is possible Roger, do you have anyone in mind?”
“I want to be with that Angel on the pedestal in the park, I would like a pair of wings just like hers. We could be happily together for eternity.”
“Are you absolutely sure this is what you wish for, to be with your Angel Roger? I can make this final wish come true for you.”
“Yes please Master,”
Then with a wave of the magic wand Roger was turned to stone.

THE MESSENGER

by John Yeo

My Mother was very sick with an incurable cancer, our faith has always been very strong, indeed we had her to thank for our strong belief in God. They say miracles are possible and we continually prayed for her in church. Mother had already outlived all the estimates of her life expectancy by months.

Mother was devoted to her granddaughter, Anne, six years old and very bright. The teachers at Anne’s school swore she knew the answers to the questions before they were asked.

We were woken by the sound of Anne’s musical laughter and her voice talking to someone in the middle of the night. We rushed into her room to find her awake sitting up in bed, “Mummy, Daddy, this is Girish, an angel!” We could see nothing and she was completely alone. “Over there by the window!” We could see nothing there.

“Believe me Mummy, there is an angel standing, just there, smiling and watching us. Can’t you see?”

My wife in a moment of inspiration said, “Describe the angel, does she have golden wings? What is she wearing? Does she have robes of pure shining white material?”

“No Mummy, Girish has no wings and he is wearing a suit, like Daddy does and he is a young man.”

“What did he say that made you laugh?”

“He said, to tell you not to worry because Grandma will be alright, she has gone to heaven and the pains have all gone.”

I immediately telephoned my Mother’s house and a very surprised medic said, “I was just about to call you! Sadly your Mother died peacefully half an hour ago.”

VOLUMES OF LIFE

BY JOHN YEO

Every second of our lives is recorded in the volumes in the Universal library. The angelic guide led me to my personal shelves. Many dusty leather bound volumes containing a record of every word I have ever uttered, every thought that has ever entered my head, recorded here in my own personal files. I nervously fingered a couple of these tomes and I muttered to the angel.

“I have made mistakes in my life, and certainly taken many wrong turnings, how do I get these expunged and removed from these comprehensive records?”

My spiritual guide replied, “Removal of the events that have already happened is of course impossible. My advice to you would be to strive for excellence in everything you do in the future,”

My mind was a turmoil of negative reactions to the sure and everlasting knowledge that  there are, and never have been, any secrets. Every action and thought, is recorded and stored eternally.

I said, “Then is there no forgiveness for even the most minor of our transgressions, destined to be forever recorded in this depository of past events”

“Forgiveness starts with you. Forgive yourself first, then others will find the example of the serenity and peace of mind that will flow from your inner strength”.

The cruel example of eternal forgiveness was a man ruthlessly slain, calling for universal pity and forgiveness.

“Father forgive them, for they know not what they do”

I looked again at the many volumes containing the growth and changes in my life. Watching them slowly disintegrating and turning to dust.

I then realised that the books were a metaphor, the past was irreversible and unchangeable.

I found faith in the realisation that the end of my ever changing story was many, many volumes in the eternal future.

THE REALITY BEHIND A DREAM

By John Yeo

My Father would laugh about a very strange dream that my Mother had twenty years ago, before I was born.

My Mother insisted one day that she had been abducted by humanoid aliens. They had taken her to a gigantic flying saucer-like machine where she had been made love to by an alien and impregnated with their seed and life force. The aliens had travelled across the universe from their dying planet to implant their seed to save their race. Conditions here on Earth were alien to them and they were unlikely to survive, this was the only way. They were able to distort our timewaves and my Mother awoke in her bed at home the next morning, as if from a dream.

My Father laughed at this dream and made fun of her vivid imagination, he always said Mother was a dreamer and this is a very precious gift to have.

One year later I arrived and Mother and Father were very proud of their new daughter. I had a very happy childhood, I never lacked for anything and I was rarely ill. My parents always asked me about my dreams, Daddy laughingly wondered if I took after my Mother as a dreamer.

At the age of twenty my features suddenly altered and this unusual growth appeared on my face. I lost the ability to speak, but I found I could read minds and I knew what people were going to say before they opened their mouths. I would actually communicate by thought transference, I found all I had to do was think to make my wishes known.

I was examined by many Doctors, Psychiatrists and Scientists, I succumbed to every known scientific test but there was no logical explanation for the black and white growth.

Then my Father suddenly remembered Mother’s very strange dream and a frission of excitement buzzed around the scientific world. I have many extra unusual abilities and there are two protrusions growing on my back as time passes. I know these are wings and I will be able to fly.
