Today’s prompt ~ NIGHTS IN STARVIEW HEIGHTS

NIGHTS IN STARVIEW HEIGHTS

by John Yeo

The height of happiness is attained

With the antidote to unhappiness,

Contentment with peace of mind maintained.

A water filled oasis on land reclaimed

An umbrella on a rainswept day

The height of happiness is attained.

Found during nights in Starview Heights.

Saturating floodwater safely drained

Fertile soil to grow fresh healthy food

Contentment with peace of mind maintained.

The storm recedes, normality regained,

The sun shines after the constant rain,

The height of happiness is attained

Spending our nights in Starview Heights.

THE CREATOR

There is always the incredible mystery.
That departed into the dust and debris
That preceded the time before history
Wiped out by the mysterious entity.

~

Was the Creator out of his mind?
Fashioning fantasy from elements
Was he naturally pre-eternally blind?
In his quest to extract a seventh sense.

~

A spiralling galaxy of ideas turned to dust,
Shining rejected entities with nerve
That expired, leaving traces of lust,
For turning, twisting, spiralling ideas.

~

Each pinpoint a shining expired life,
Swirling, sweeping, a galactic funnel
Of exploration with wild frustration
Dancing, gleaming stars burning out.

~

The sheer volume of discarded matter
Shining beautifully at the rim of the inferno
A sucking, hungry, elemental monster,
A richly attired fearsome black hole.

~

A tiny microbe on a tiny blue planet,
One of the millions thickly spreading
Looked in awe at the devastation.
Smiling sadly at the burning question,

~

Is the Creator mad?

ONCE ~100 Word challenge ~Velvet Verbosity

MEMORY

by John Yeo

Granddad, what do you see?
I see visions of life before you were born
Hardship and poverty on the farm.
Up at dawn, out in the fields
Working through till dusk.

~

Granddad, what do you feel?
I feel sorrow at the wars and violence now,
The fighting and the hunger far away
Children dying of thirst and disease
I am too old to intervene now.

~

Granddad, what would you change?
I would fight for truth and war renounce
I would spread my wings and travel
To lands far away to help the poor
I was as young as you, ONCE.

THE THOUGHTFUL, FERVENT, BRILLIANT BRAIN
by John Yeo

Where? He wondered in silent awe
Thoughtful, Enquiring! Why? How? When?
Fervently searching for answers.
Gazing up on a starry night
A puzzle to overwhelm the senses.
The universe a wonder to the thoughtful mind,
A fiery bright shining firmament.

Burning, Boiling, without relent.
A puzzle to overpower the mind.
The mind, a whirl of discontent,
Fervent, Brilliant, always alight.
The neurons and axions firing in flight.
A Thoughtful, Fervent, Brilliant Brain.
Fervently searching for answers.
